Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. JOHN 14:27 (NASB)
Lord Jesus, I have allowed fear to enter my heart. Instead of turning to You in my hour of need, I’ve recoiled in fear of my earthly circumstances. When I consider what You endured on the cross to cover my sin, my grim situation shrinks in comparison. What peace did You have when You demonstrated Your love by dying for me? Yet You have an abundance of peace to share with all of us.
Every day, You remind me of Your peace in many ways. A friend, or even a stranger, will share a smile or a kind word. While stuck in traffic, a bumper sticker on the car in front of me declares Your love to all who will come to You. A tender embrace from a loved one envelopes me with the warmth of Your care.
Then I turn back to You, Lord. And in Your Word I find: “The peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7 NASB).
Thank You, gracious Lord, for Your patience when I am troubled, for Your forgiveness when I look away from You, and for Your words of truth to rein me back in with a peaceful heart. I pray this in Your wonderful name.
